How BOTOX® Cosmetic Works
BOTOX® Cosmetic smoothes out and can temporarily eliminate the appearance of dynamic facial wrinkles by paralyzing the muscles that cause these lines to form. Tampa plastic surgeon Dr. Benedetti carefully places several small injections into the facial muscles.
The active ingredient, a purified form of the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, prevents the muscles from contracting by blocking the associated nerve impulses. Your Recovery
Patients choose BOTOX® Cosmetic in part because of the extremely quick recovery period possible. You may resume normal activities, but avoid vigorous exercise for at least 24 hours. Dr. Benedetti also instructs patients not to lie flat for 4 hours following treatment, to avoid any unintended migration of the BOTOX® Cosmetic into other areas of the face. At times, some patients may experience mild bruising, which should last no more than a day or two.
