How It Works
Prior to your procedure, a topical numbing cream is applied for comfort. The laser handpiece delivers concentrated pulses of laser energy that are selectively absorbed by the tattoo pigments; surrounding tissues are unharmed by these specifically selected laser wavelengths. The laser energy breaks down the ink, which is then gradually eliminated by the body's natural cleansing process. The tattoo then fades or disappears completely over time.
Your Recovery
There may be some flaking and/or redness at the treatment site, but you should be able to resume normal activities immediately. Dr. Benedetti will give you specific instructions for aftercare, and let you know when your follow-up treatments can be scheduled. You may need to wait up to 2 months between treatments for your body to eliminate the tiny ink particles. The number of treatments required will vary, but typically ranges from 6 to 10.
