Skin Improvements
Palomar StarLux and Sciton ProFractional laser skin resurfacing can give you the smoother, clearer, more vibrant skin you desire, with a short recovery period. This laser treatment, commonly used on the face, neck, chest, arms, and hands, corrects a variety of skin imperfections including:

Depending on the condition being treated, the size of the areas, and the depth and aggressiveness of the treatment, Dr. Benedetti usually recommends a series of 1 to 3 treatments spaced about 1 to 6 months apart. Most patients immediately notice improvement in the appearance and texture of their skin, with continual improvement for about 2 to 3 months.
Dr. Benedetti performs an initial consultation for all of his patients. During this appointment he will listen to your cosmetic goals, answer your questions, and describe the available treatments. He might also describe other medical spa skin treatments, such as IPL (Photofacial) or a chemical peel.
How It Works
Instead of impacting the entire surface of the targeted areas like traditional skin resurfacing treatments, the Palomar StarLux and Sciton ProFractional lasers affect pinpoint areas (micro-channels) deep in the skin, leaving untreated areas around each micro-channel. This "fractional" treatment reduces patient discomfort and downtime. The laser also awakens the body's natural healing process, increasing collagen and elastin production and skin cell regeneration for smoother, clearer, firmer skin.
Dr. Benedetti works with his patients to make their Palomar StarLux and Sciton ProFractional laser treatments as comfortable as possible with the use of pre-medication, topical numbing medications and dental blocks if necessary. The laser technology can be precisely adjusted to address a wide variety of conditions from wrinkles around the lips or eyes, to specific surface scars, to the whole face, enabling treatment to be customized to the specific needs of each patient.
Recovery after Laser Skin Resurfacing
In addition to its effectiveness, a major advantage of Palomar StarLux and Sciton ProFractional laser skin resurfacing is the mild to moderate recovery time required. After treatment, the targeted areas usually look sunburned for 2 to 3 days or longer if a more aggressive or deeper treatment is done. The treated skin will also feel tight with mild swelling, which is usually not painful. Within the first week there is peeling and flaking of the skin, revealing smoother skin beneath.
