Barbara's Plastic Surgery After Weight Loss

Barbara is no stranger to cosmetic surgery. She's a registered nurse with over 20 years of experience and is nationally certified for the operating room. Losing the Weight, Developing a Plan

After losing about 30 pounds in 2006, Barbara noticed something missing - her neck. She says, "I could see my jowls beginning to drop and my neck beginning to disappear." Her lower face lacked definition and when she looked at her mother, who'd achieved similar weight loss, she knew it was not going to get better.

She reached the point where she hated to see pictures of herself, noting, "When you're unhappy with a part of your appearance, that's what your eye focuses on any time you look at yourself." She approached Dr. Benedetti with her concerns and they worked out a plan together. Barbara says, "I chose Dr. Benedetti because he is passionate about cosmetic surgery and is painstakingly meticulous. In November 2006, Barbara had lower facelift and neck lift surgery and all went as planned, up until the ride home. She had arranged for a friend to drive her, but the friend got lost, and a 10 minute drive turned into an hour. Safely at home, her friend spent the first night with her, helping with trips to the bathroom, ice packs, and managing her drains. Another friend took over for the next two days, and after that she was fine on her own.

Barbara's primary concern following surgery was that her scars would be noticeable, but it turns out that fear was unnecessary. She happily reports, "My facelift scars are almost invisible. I wear my hair up almost every day. I pull my hair into a ponytail like it's no big deal. And I never worry that my scars are going to be noticed." She often shares her success with Dr. Benedetti's patients now as she escorts them to surgery. It's hard not to, given how ecstatic she is about the results. "I love how my jaw and lower face look, and my cheekbones are amazing!"

By July 2007 Barbara had lost an additional 50 pounds and noticed significant volume loss and drooping of her breasts. She'd had breast augmentation and abdominoplasty surgery in her 20's and now was experiencing some breast pain in addition to the sagging. She met with Dr. Benedetti again and he confirmed that her 20-year-old implants had ruptured and needed to be replaced.

During surgery, Dr. Benedetti removed the old implants and cleaned up the silicone that had leaked. He performed a breast lift and breast augmentation with new implants and also did a revision on her abdominoplasty scar. Once again, she was thrilled with how well everything turned out.

Today, at age 48, Barbara says most people think she's 10 years younger. She gives some credit to genetics, but the rest goes to Dr. Benedetti. "I wasn't trying to look younger, but I've been told time and time again that the difference is remarkable, and it does make me look younger than before surgery. I can't imagine choosing anyone else for my plastic surgery."
